Asana-Lab Master Class
The foundation of Tantric Yoga, through Kashmiri Shivaism are the Shiva sutras. These sutras begin with two beautiful concepts. The first is that this world is a manifestation of absolute consciousness, the second precept being that knowledge of the details is bondage. This practice teaches us that we are all one - not of one, but one single collaboration, and that learning about our individuality creates the illusion of differentiation and separateness. However, as Tantra goes on to teach, these perceived differences color our experience… in order to understand their illusion we must first learn their details. You have to know the rules one might say, in order to break them.
The practice of Jnana Yoga is the practice of learning, experiencing, playing with, and ultimately understanding the intricacies, the details, the depths of these bodies we are working with. It is a rebuke of the cliche that we are ‘not our bodies’ and a celebration of the fact that we are not JUST what we see of our bodies, that we are a joyful manifestation of the Absolute, as these bodies. And as such, it’s our right and maybe even duty, to learn all we can about them, so that we can come to understand their universal truth. Come expecting to move with, to experience, and to notice the details. We will alternate between a creative vinyasa flow, and hot-seat style posture lab, designed to both study the details of form, and play with the experience they hold.
